EURUSD

Short term sentiment remains mixed although the Euro has found support on the 61.8% retracement of the 1.5285-1.5820 move at 1.5490. While below 1.5615, there are chances of a re-test of the downside support zone at 1.5490 then lower at 1.5430-50. Intra-day momentum is bearish at the time of this report. Current quote is 1.5521 @06:28 GMT

Support levels: 1.5520, 1.5480-90, 1.5460, 1.5400 and 1.5360.
Resistance levels: 1.5560, 1.5610, 1.5665, 1.5700, 1.5760 and 1.5820.

AUDUSD

The Aussie dollar tested the 38.2% retracement of the 0.9290-0.9650 move at 0.9513 on Friday and it looks like it is going to revisit the 0.9510 zone as it is already down 40 points on today's session. A break of the said support at 0.9510 may favor more downside action aiming towards the bearish objective at 0.9470-75 where important support is seen. Overall short term structure is corrective while intra-day studies are bearish. Current quote is 0.9524 @06:28 GMT

Support levels: 0.9513, 0.9500, 0.9475 and 0.9425.
Resistance levels: 0.9555, 0.9600, 0.9650 and 0.9700.

EURCHF

The failed attempt to break the 1.6300 mark on Friday favored the decline to 1.6210 and a break below 1.6200 may bring the previous lows at 1.6130 on focus. Bearish momentum on both intra-day and daily studies encourage the current resume of Friday's fall. Current quote is 1.6193 @06:28 GMT

FOREX : Foreign Exchange Market

FOREX is a word play on the term Foreign Exchange Market. It is a market for buying and selling of currencies from all over the world. Certainly, such transactions are bound to be voluminous. It is just an estimate that there are about transactions of $1.5 trillion USD on a daily basis in the FOREX. Now just compare this with the paltry $300 billion USD a day transactions for the US Treasury Bond and the $100 billion a day transactions for the US Stock Exchange.

The FOREX came into existence in 1971 when the fixed currency exchanges were abolished. Currencies no longer had fixed values after that; on the contrary, their rates (mostly taken in comparison with the USD) were fluctuating, and changed on a daily basis. Throughout the seventies and the eighties the FOREX grew steadily, showing more advancement in the later years. The market has stupendously grown from $70 billion USD a day to the staggering amount that it transacts today on a daily basis.

There are actually about five thousand trading institutions in the FOREX. These include international banks, central government banks such as the US Federal Reserve, and commercial companies and brokers for all types of foreign currency exchange. The recent changes in the financial regulations have effectuated this accessibility. Earlier, a minimum transaction size was required to conduct business with the FOREX. But the current rules have made it possible to break large inter-bank units into smaller bits. Each bit is worth as less as $100,000.
